Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Niccole attended the University of Calgary where she completed a BSc in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry (2004) and an MSc in Medical Science (2007). Her thesis work involved studying the biomechanics of medial collateral ligament healing where she developed a porcine model and performed a breed comparison. Currently, she is working as a Project Manager for the Skeletal Regenerative Medicine Team. In addition, Niccole is assisting Dr. John Matyas in the laboratory, primarily with his animal studies, and is developing an in vitro murine model to study fracture healing. While she is not in the lab or at the farm, she spends her time teaching children educational programs at the Calgary Zoo and assists the veterinarians and technicians at Western Veterinary Specialist Centre. Besides working, Niccole finds time for other activities. She plays on two soccer teams, enjoys the outdoors, visits with friends and family, and finds pleasure in baking.
